My husband bought me this machine for my birthday I had not touched a sewing machine in 15 years, and that was in highschool! I have been teaching myself ever since, the ease of this machine has been perfect, beautiful results.

A Great Buy
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned this machine for 18months now and still love it. All the features work, I love that I don’t need to oil the machine. I do maintain the bobbin case, which I think is easy to take apart and put back. I owned a Sears Kenmore for 30 years that only did zigzag stitches and was a nice machine but very limited. The new machines have come a long way. I have sewn pocketbooks with many layers of fabric (purchased the upper feed foot which is a joy). I have sewn jersey weight fabrics too. I hope I don’t jinx myself now, but for the money I think this machine is a great buy. I also hear some bad things about the Singer company, but I have to say that I was just about to write them a letter to complement them on their customer service. They already replaced my threader which I believe I destroyed myself; and my 1 year warranty was already expired. Any time I have a question, I can email their website and I will receive a reply. I am very happy with their customer service. You are also able to purchase attachments for your machine thru their website and you will not pay more than you would at another site. I will have to tell you that in all honesty, my Singer 7466 has brought joy back to sewing for me. I highly recommend this machine. I know you can pay a great deal more, but for the average home sewing enthusiast, I don’t think you need to.

Singer today isn’t the Singer you knew
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this machine for my wife for Christmas two years ago. She’s used it maybe a half dozen times, and a few weeks ago the bobbin winder stopped working. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it, but it seemed that the arm that holds the bobbin winder shaft inside the machine had bent somehow. We took it to a local repair shop and were told it would cost a minimum of $150 to fix! I was shocked and they told us that they had to send it back to Singer to fix, there was nothing they could do about it. They then told us that Singer was no longer the quality brand that most people remember as Singer has been bought out by some other company. The shop repairman told us that modern Singers are so cheaply and poorly made that the usual internal twisting and flexing that a machine should be able to handle turns these machines into non-functional piles of scrap with light use, and that was exactly what had happened with my wife’s machine.
DO NOT WASTE your money on Singer.

Love my Singer!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve enjoyed my Singer 7466 for over 2 years now. I purchased it after rediscovering my love for sewing using a 40 yr old White that had seen its day. When I sew the machine sees heavy use. It’s easy to thread and bobbins wind fast and even in nothing flat.
The automatic tension is fabulous. While quilting I often move through several different fabric weights and weave with ease. The machine adjusts automatically allowing me to buzz right through. After adding fusible fleece it sews just as smoothly over heavy layers as it does with fabric only.
I ran over a pin at just the wrong point and it was forced not only down into the bobbin casing, but AROUND it by the needle. Low & behold, after the pin was removed (with pliars!), it sewed right on like a champ. I could hardly believe it. I took it in for a free estimate when it developed a knock (shortly after the pin incident). After a good check over all I paid for was basic service & tune-up.
No problems during the warranty so I’ve had no need to contact Singer. But I plan to look for accessories I read about in another review. Given the prevalence of “refurbished” everything these days and where things are manufactured maybe my machine was made on a “good” day.
Anyway, I recommend this machine without reservations. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Love it!

Love this! Sews beautifully, lots of great stitches, very easy to switch out the pressure foot. Only drawback I’ve found was the bobbin cover is easy to misplace. It pops off completely to put on a new bobbin. But I’ve just made of habit of putting it in the same spot when changing bobbins so I won’t lose it. I really like the little cubby hole storage box on the front to store the extra feet. Very nice machine, and I’m very happy with it.

Broke within 20 minutes!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This machine jammed within 20 minutes of first use. I was using the automatic threader and it jammed. I am unable to fix the jam,and it jammed in a manner that prevents the machine from doing any sewing. So now I have to mail it back to the company. I’ve heard that Singer has gone down hill and now I believe it! I won’t trust the Singer brand name anymore.

This machine is so easy to learn
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This machine is so easy to use. I like the all the different stitches that this machine offers. The easy threading, and the needle in the up position when I finish sewing. This machine would be great for all stages of sewing, new and old timers. I have been sewing for 25 years and this is my second machine. I think I will sell my old one.
